Thank god I have Backblaze as an emergency backup, cause it has saved me on this. If I delete a file or need to restore a previous version, I can go to TrueNAS and restore a cloned version of the snapshot that contains the correct file or version of the file.Īs you can imagine, this is a bit of a pain. All these additional files are previous versions that I had duplicated. For me, using TrueNAS, I’m falling back to Snapshots. Of course though, this means that a very helpful feature of ST can’t be used. One more thingif you order a USB flash drive or USB hard drive. The price will be 189 no matter what size drive we send. For example, if you are restoring 1.1TB of data, we could ship you a 1.5TB drive. So I tried turning that off and so far it seems to be running very smoothly, Backblaze and ST are playing nicely with each other. If you purchase a USB external hard drive restore, we will ship you a drive that will accommodate your data, up to about 3TB in size. I used file versioning initially (in ST) and the system went a little squirrelly. Editor’s note: On March 3, 2022, Backblaze ended the USB flash drive restore option. I see that was in a similar situation a few months ago. I’ve been tinkering with my backup solution lately, and now Syncthing has been used for long enough to be proven reliable (in my situation), I thought I would try and create the perfect solution. ![]()
